NFL Champions, the New York Giants Inhale their way to victory. With the Super Bowl barely behind us, the excitement buzzing across the east coast is still palpable. A big ticker tape parade in New York City, and probably a one way ticket to the hall of fame for Eli Manning. We saw the game and thought it was thrilling too, but what really caught our attention was the action on the sidelines…
Mario Manningham may have made the iconic catch of the Super Bowl, but did you see him sucking down oxygen between downs? We counted at least four players in the game that went for the mask between plays or on offense switching. Most often it was just a large defensive lineman who had been asked to work a little too hard on the previous play; but with a couple deep breaths, his aerobic recovery is accelerated and he is ready to go.
Indeed oxygen has been a part of football since the 1950’s, and if you don’t believe it, check out the picture of these ancient warriors sucking down some O2. For most players, it wouldn’t be football without some quality time with an oxygen mask. A few breaths of concentrated oxygen are the best remedy for over-exertion and the quickest way to return the athlete to the game. And it’s not just football, either; athletes like Novak Djokovich have taken to hyperbaric chambers for even more complete oxygenation. Novak oxygenates his body prior to a tennis match for increased endurance. A tactic that obviously worked well for him in the recent Australian Open where he prevailed against Rafael Nadal in the longest men’s final in tennis history!
There’s no denying that exercise and diet go hand-in-hand for a healthy lifestyle. Add to that a jet of oxygen every once in a while and you’ll find yourself relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed all at once. And if you’re an athlete, you may also find an edge in your next competition.
Waiting to2 Inhale!! is often a fixture at local foot or bike races, and even marathons where we wait patiently to help athletes as they pant across the finish line.
