Acne: Acne is an inflammatory skin disorder caused by an over-production of sebum. The exact cause of acne is not known, but some factors include stress, diet, monthly menstrual cycles, and the use of cosmetics.

Recommended Essential Oils: Cajeput, Lavender, Tea Tree

Allergies: Allergies are the body's reaction to a substance that is not normally harmful. The body incorrectly identifies these substances as potentially damaging and the immune system steps in to fight the invader.

Recommended Essential Oils: Chamomile, Lavender, Melissa/Lemon Balm

Cautions: Be aware of your allergies and use essential oils with caution.

Arthritis: Arthritis is the inflammation of one or more joints and is characterized by pain, stiffness, swelling, deformity, and/or a decreased range of motion.

Recommended Essential Oils: Juniper, Lavender, Rosemary

Asthma: Asthma is a lung disease that causes obstruction of the airways leaving sufferers feeling like they can't breathe because of the spasms in the muscles surrounding the bronchi. Typical symptoms of an asthma attack are tightness in the chest, difficulty breathing, wheezing and coughing.

Cautions: Do not use inhalations if you have asthma.

Blackheads: Blackheads are caused when sebum (the oil produced by the sebaceous glands that lubricates the skin) combine with skin pigment and clog the pores. Factors that contribute to the condition are stress, heredity, oily skin, the use of cosmetics and overwashing or repeated rubbing of the skin.

Bronchitis: Bronchitis is the inflammation or obstruction of the bronchial tubes which lead to the lungs. The inflammation results in excess mucus, coughing, pain in the chest and fatigue.

Recommended Essential Oils: Cedarwood, Lavender, Peppermint

Cautions: If bronchitis is persistent or high fever is present, consult your physician.

Colds & Flu
: Colds and flu are the result of viral infections and can bring about some nasty symptoms including cough, runny nose, fever, vomiting, etc.

Cautions: If symptoms persist, or worsen suddenly, consult your physician.

Circulation (Poor): Poor Circulation can result from a variety of factors including stress, smoking, and varicose veins, and usually presents itself with a feeling of cold or numbness (most often in the extremities).

Constipation: Constipation occurs when waste products move too slowly through the large bowel and are painful and infrequently eliminated. Common causes of constipation are stress, hurried meals, low roughage and lack of exercise.

Dandruff: Dandruff is a chronic skin condition of the scalp in which the skin flakes rapidly. It is sometimes associated with dryness, itchiness or excessive oiliness.

Dry Skin
: Dry skin is the result of a deficiency in the oil and moisture that are required to keep the skin lubricated resulting in flaking, scaling, and cracking. Recommended Essential Oils: Lavender, Rose, Sandalwood

Exhaustion & Fatigue: Exhaustion and fatigue are not themselves disorders. They are symptoms and can be related to everything from stress to illness and diet.

Flatulence: Flatulence is the body's way of ridding excess gas and relieving internal pressure associated with digestion.

Headaches: Almost everyone gets a headache at one time or another. The most common causes of headache include allergies, eyestrain, stress, tension, hunger and exposure to irritants such as perfume.

Insomnia: Insomnia is habitual sleeplessness, repeated night after night. This means either being unable to fall asleep when you go to bed, or waking up and not being able to get back to sleep. Insomnia can result from a wide variety of causes such as stress, physical pain, breathing problems, depression or caffeine consumption but is generally not as harmless as it is frustrating.

Menopause: Menopause, also described as the "change of life", is the point at which women cease menstruation and ovulation indicating the conclusion of fertility. The average age that this transition occurs is 50 and the symptoms include hot flashes, mood swings, fatigue, depression and headaches.

Muscle Aches: Muscle aches and cramps most often occur when the muscles have been overexerted, but can also be related to dehydration, varicose veins, poor circulation or an imbalance of calcium and magnesium in the body.

Nausea: Nausea is most commonly associated with indigestion, influenza, food poisoning, stress and hormonal changes (i.e. pregnancy).

Sore Throat
: A Sore Throat is most commonly caused by viral infections such as the common cold, but can also be brought on by anything that irritates the sensitive mucous membranes at the back of the mouth and throat.

Wrinkles: Wrinkles form when the skin loses its elasticity. Some wrinkling of the skin is due to aging, but other causes are diet, stress, lifestyle, skin care habits and habitual facial expressions.
